Pack 1083 is chartered by the Joseph E. Zaloga American Legion Post #1520. Our Chartered Organization approves leadership, helps secure a meeting place and keeps the pack within the sponsor’s and the Boy Scouts of America guidelines and policies.
Our Chartered Organization selects a Representative (a liaison between our pack and our sponsor.). The Zaloga Post #1520 has been sponsoring Pack 1083 for many years and we have provided our services back to the Post through volunteer and community service projects.

Cubmaster
The leader of the pack meeting is the Cubmaster. In addition to serving as the master of ceremonies the Cubmaster provides support to Den Leaders and assists at meetings in their absence.
Assistant Cubmaster
An Assistant Cubmaster is an adult leader over the age of 18 who helps the Cubmaster deliver the promise of Scouting. Each Assistant Cubmaster is assigned specific program duties. They can serve the pack by guiding a particular den to which they’ve been assigned, advising certain Scouts who’ve assumed a position e.g. the den chief, or fill in as necessary to assure the den leaders have what they need to run things. They also provide the two-deep leadership required by the Scouts of America. An assistant Cubmaster may be 18 years old, but at least one in each troop should be 21 or older so he or she can serve in the Scoutmaster’s absence.
Pack Committee Chair
The key volunteer in the pack is the Pack Committee Chair. They are responsible for ensuring enough qualified adult volunteers are in place to provide the program. They lead the pack committee meetings and liaison with the chartering organization.
Pack Committee
Made up of parents, leaders, and other caring adults the pack committee works to support den leaders and the cubmaster. In order to have a valid charter to be renewed each year, the Pack is responsible for having key leadership positions filled by volunteers. If this does not occur then the Pack cannot recharter. Keep this in mind as rechartering occurs.
Treasurer
Keeps all records for the Pack, including Pack bank account, financial records, collects dues and reimburses families for approved pack purchases. They attend Pack meetings.
Parent Helpers
Functional positions to perform “one shot” program jobs such as coordinating Troop participation in sales events, Scouting for Food, Pinewood Derby, Blue and Gold Banquet, day camp(s), et al. These jobs can be intensive but are of short duration.
Pack Trainer
Ensures all leaders are registered and trained.
Den Leader
An adult, usually a parent, serves as a Den Leader. They carry out the activities related to adventures as they are presented in the Cub Scout’s handbook and the Den Leader Guide. They utilized the knowledge of the Cubmaster and Pack Committee to put together a well-rounded program.
Chartered Organization Representative
Their person appoints the Pack Committee Chair and approves all adult leaders. They provide resources from the chartered organization.
The Pack is run by all volunteers!
